The Nasarawa State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission has said it is not a party to the purported ongoing voter registration in across the state.
In a statement by Head, Electoral Political Parties Monitoring if INEC, Fidelis Usar, a copy of which was made available to The PUNCH in Lafia on Thursday, said the commission had not commenced the continuous voter registration and issuance of permanent voter card.

Usar stated that the commission had yet to deploy any of its staff or equipment to conduct any exercise in respect of voter registration.
He said, “The commission wishes to assure the residents of Nasarawa State that when the date for the exercise is fixed, all stakeholders will be duly notified.
“The commission is appealing to all political actors and other stakeholders to always crosscheck any information recieved with the office.”
The statement added that the report that commission was carrying out voter registration in some part of the state was untrue.
“Our doors are open to clarify issues, suggestions and positive input that will further enhance the consolidation of our nascent democracy,” INEC said.
