NRA counsels Pinnick, calls for peace in NFF

The Nigeria Referees Association on Thursday advised Amaju Pinnick, the new President, Nigeria Football Federation, to ensure his tenure was devoid of bickering that characterised the previous administration.

Ahmed Maude, the Chairman, NRA, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos State and pledged the support of the body to the new executive of the NFF.

Maude said, “We are happy the election went well, it was free and fair. I congratulate the chairman and I wish him a successful tenure.

“All we ask for is peace in order for our football to develop.

“The federation has been through a lot in recent time and we hope that peace will reign, because without peace, there can be no football development.

“Aminu Maigari has done his best; it’s now left for the newly elected president to build on his achievement and even surpass it, which is possible with cooperation from all quarters.”

NAN reports that the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick was on Tuesday in Warri, Delta, elected the president of the NFF in a keenly contested election.

Pinnick, who polled 25 votes in the first ballot, recorded 32 votes in the run-off, to emerge the winner ahead of Taiwo Ogunjobi and Dominic Iorfa who had four and eight votes respectively.
